Week of Global Interfaith Dialogue -- 2006

Buddhist-Muslim Dialogues

THE SECOND ANNUAL WEEK OF GLOBAL INTERFAITH DIALOGUE

The Second Annual Week of Global Interfaith Dialogue took place in 18 locations around the world from September 12-18 2004. On one day during this week individuals and organizations shared the values common to all religions. The dialogues, building a critical mass of positive energy and unity, facilitated a greater understanding of our interconnectedness and of our responsibility for each other. In the second year of the annual Week of Global Interfaith Dialogue, events were held in Iran, India, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Mozambique, Ghana, Australia, Finland, the Philippines, the UK, and in several locations in the United States.

The Week of Global Interfaith Dialogue is held annually to support of the observance of the United Nations International Day of Peace. The United Nations General Assembly declared that the International Day of Peace be observed on September 21st as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honor a cessation of hostilities. The dialogues create, in the words of Dharma Master Hsin Tao, the founder of Global Family for Love and Peace and the featured presenter at the 2003 dialogue held at the United Nations, "unity and friendship as the basis for future cooperation."
